Hungarian Military Rifle...Help!
I have this rifle I am selling for a new client & am not sure what it is... I have posted a few photos but will post more if needed. It is serial number BE0730 & I am looking for date of manufacture. Any history on this rifle would be great!

It is a Hungarian made Mosin Nagant M44. Same as the Russian version, just made in Hungary once it was in the Soviet sphere of influence. 0 -
If it is one of the Hungarian made Model 1944's? It will be marked with a "02", and a date in the early 1950's, on the rear portion of the barrel just forward of the receiver ring. The "02" is the manufacturing code used by the Hungarian military arsenal that fabricated the rifle.
The Hungarian 1944's are very well made sturdy guns, that are generally better finished then the Russian made 1944's. Make sure the bolt, magazine, receiver & barrel have matching numbers and the bore is in good shape. That said their not big buck items at this time, East Bloc Model 1944's have been sold on the surplus market by the container load for the last ten years. I've seen them selling for around $100, recently.0 -
It is of course a Russian design, the Mosin-Nagant M44. Whether or not this one was produced in Hungary is not obvious from the photos. A photo of the markings on the receiver and barrel shank would help a lot to determine for you the manufacturer. The manufacture date is normally also marked on all the Mosin rifles I have, sometimes to include a re-make, and the original manufacture date can be found under the rear tang. 0 -
The markings on the barrel identifies it as being made in Romania, not Hungary. The bolt does have the Hungarian "02" arsenal marking though. If it's all matching number wise, being made in Romania would be a plus as far as value is concerned. 0
