Remington 552 w/ no S/N?

There are two on GB like this. How old are these things? One seller says C&R OK. Is that correct?

They are pre-68 firearms. Not required to have a serno and the 68 GCA was not retroactive. I have a Remington 550-1 that also doesn't have a serno. However, if a pre-68 firearm DID have a serno, it is a violation to remove it.

To date a Remington 22, there is a 2 or 3 LETTER code stamped on the barrel- left side, about a half inch in front of reciever. Remington Collectors website has the codes- will tell you month and year of manufacture. As the folks have said- pre 1968 Gun Control Act rifles were not required to have a serial number. I have a bunch of older Mossbergs and Remingtons that went into my bound volume as NSN- No Serial Number. And yes, a rifle that is at least 50 yrs old is a Curio & Relic arm.
