mossberg scope

i recently purchased a mossberg-no.m4 4power scope. the front lens is recessed in about 3 inches from the front of the scope. is this normal or is it missing a lens? also what gun were these intended to fit?

  i recently acquired a mossberg m4c scope it seems to be in very good shape, it has a 3/4in tube and is about 14in long with a fine crosshair reticule--does anyone have any info on this scope, and what kind of rifle was it used on and maybe the value? any info would be helpful, thanks

  Normal & Mossberg .22 rifles.

  Mossberg Scopes can be found on a lot of different kinds of .22 caliber rifles produced in the same era.
