Dealer price on Sig P226

Got quoted a price on a new Sig P226 .40sw standard model of over $1000 at a local FFL who sells out of his dive/pool shop. Great guy, pillar of the community, honest and fair. So I was kinda surprised to get quoted such a high price. As seeing they seem to be available on GB under $700 regularly. I know that demand for just about any semi-automatic handgun or rifle is just insane still, but did the dealer price go up as well?

    Last weekend, at the Grant's Pass live auction, one with a .22 conversion sold for $2600.00

    That's DOLLARS, not pesos or yen.

    They are going for $850.00 here in northern VA. But that has been the price for well before Obama. The only thing that has gone up around here are black rifles, and even they didn't go up crazily. I just bought another Rock River for $1050.00 out the door.

    It also depends on if he is a Sig Dealer or not. There is only 1 or maybe 2 wholesalers left that sell Sigs to non Sig dealers. The price will be higher through those wholesalers than if he was a direct Sig dealer. It does seem a bit high but that may be the reason.

    I was in our PD armory the other day and saw a stack of brand new P229R SIGs. I also saw the invoice. You ain't gonna believe it.

    there are dozens of them in the $500 range on the auction side
