Strange Ruger GP100!!

I just bought a used GP100 in SS, 3" barrel with fixed sights.
Serial # 171-81*** On the left side, it has "C.A.I. Georgia VT"
It seems like I have seen that stamping on imports in the past. What the heck is it doing on a Ruger GP100???

  Sold out of country for a police force elsewhere, and then re-imported?

  I strongly doubt Century arms automatically stamps every gun that goes through its facility.
  
  So barring that this one was likely exported first, then re-imported.

  We have recently ordered and received a half dozen of these from CAI, got two more today - they are "re-imported" from someplace in South America. Very nice condition and a great value at $370.

  Yup. We have a Smith & Wesson Model 36 with the same marking. Or, at least we did have one, until the terrible boating accident.
