    According to proofhouse, the year of manufacture is 1903 but that information may be off by a couple of years. Bert will have a more exact date.

    In the future, I suggest you title your thread with the actual subject, such as "Winchester 1892" so Bert sees it when he logs on. He may just skip over one titled "date of birth". Just a suggestion.

    Then based on your serial number I have a lettered Model 1892 that is 12,000 numbers lower than your Model 1892 and my gun was received in the warehouse and shipped in December 1904. So, depending on production in the subsequent years your gun would probably letter in 1905.

    Your gun is in the serial number range that can be lettered by the Cody Museum if you want to know when it was actually shipped as well as its configuration when it was shipped. I think the cost is around $55.
