Ruger Vaquero Question

Old model Vaquero, the cylinder pin when pulled out butts up to the ejector button and the other end is still in the frame and can't drop out or remove, is this normal ? The cylinder does remove, its not a problem to me but my other SAA's drop away, just curious. Any Ruger experts here ??

  I recently purchased a Ruger Vaquero .45lc with a 3 5/8 barrel. It is an old model without the birdshead grips. It doesnt have the guide rod or whatever it is called under the barrel in front of the cylider.
  
  I couldn't find this item in the book and didn't know if I was looking in the right place or not.
  
  Any input would be greatley appreciated

  I believe that this was called the "Sheriff's Model" and did not come with the ejector rod or ejector rod housing.
  
  If you look on the right side of the barrel toward the end of the barrel there is probably not a hole for the screw to hold the housing on, that is a good indication that it never had one.
