Slugging a barrel

Got some Cerrosafe and I am getting ready to slug an old German double rifle. This will be the first time I have tried this so is there any tricks to it?

    How big do you need a soft lead slug, when measuring barrel size? Are they any change of getting a slug stuck in a pistol barrel? Thanks for any info.

    This is going to be brief.

    - Clean the barrel and chamber.

    - Lightly lube chamber, LIGHTLY.

    - Plug barrel with a tight patch just above the chamber.

    - Invert barrel muzzle down.

    - Melt Cerrosafe and pour into chamber.

    - Cool, carefully push out with a cleaning rod.

    The only thing I will add, is to be sure you take it out soon enough, if you leave it in to long it will not come out......................

    Cerrosafe is used for casting the chamber... not for slugging a bore. Bore slugging is accomplished using a pure lead slug that is slightly larger than the bore diameter, and it involves pushing the soft lead slug through the length of the bore with a push rod. Slugging the bore will determine the exact bore diameter so that proper sized bullets can be determined.

    Or it could be he used the wrong term, 'Slugging' in place of what was really meant, 'Casting a Chamber'.

    I meant casting the chamber. Anyways I got it done last night without any problems. The rifle is a 9.3x57R like I thought. Just wanted to make sure before I bought dies and bullets. Now, if anyone has a spare set of 9.3x57R dies laying around I could use em...
