Remington 597

hi, i'd like to start shooting my 597 at paper. my question is, is it a big deal to have the trigger adjusted? i don't know the poundage but i'd say its pretty high. i took the stock off and everything is contained and it doesn't look like an easy job. is anyone familiar with this gun? thanks for your time

    My son bought a Remington 597 22LR. He was planning to get an AR type stock. I am not having any luck in my searches. Anyone have any suggestions. Thanks

    I like mine, I put a cheap Simmons red dot on it, and picked up some extra 10 rd. and 30 rd. magazines. It's accurate enough to pick off empty shotgun shells out to until I can't see them any more. Plus it's been dead reliable so far, and all I've used is the federal bulk stuff from wal mart.

    It is a good gun, but I prefer the Ruger 10/22 to it instead.

    Another fine option is the Marlin 60.

    Trained on a single shot Savage, ready to move up to a larger gun and has expressed interest in an semi auto.

    They jamb a lot. I have one and I think I am going to get rid of it I am tired of trying different things to get it to shoot more than 3 times. A ruger 10-22 or a marlin are very reliable.

    I second the 10-22 motion. There is just so much more you can do with them, and tons of aftermarket stuff.

    I also know there is a quality issue with the Remington name in general. The 597 is part of that statement...at least with the 3 I sold.
