after all the info i found on this so called tanker, i still picked it up.

put 50 MY reloads down her yesterday and all shot fine for just throw together rounds to see if it went BANG and not BOOM[;)]

sight was way off,

only markings i can find on it are ,
U.S RIFLE
CAL 30M1
SPRINGFIELD
ARMORY

BARREL HAS
ARLINGTON GRD ARL 7.62 NATO

ANY OTHER thoughts on a tanker model

    muzzle blast on it wasn't bad at all ,recoil was OK as well.

    didn't see what all the complaints were for on blast and recoil in the tanker model.

    There is a guy on the auction side selling completely manufactured and restored shortened Garands, which he calls the "Mini-G"

    When I receive the money from the asset liquidation, I am ordering 3 from him: .30-06, .308, and .270 Win.

    He will personalize them, they come with new furniture, and a proprietary gas system.

    I have spoken with him on the phone, and he convinced me.

    Search "Mini-G" on the auction side. He has video of the weapons in action.

    I've wanted a T-26 (Tanker) for years, but all the ones I've shot, from various manufacturers, have had function and operating rod problems.

    This guy seems to be the real deal, and I'm gonna fly to - I think - Michigan to check him out, before I buy.

    Short Garands rule.

    You might want to check the receiver carefully, as many of the early tanker conversions were done on "re-welded" receivers.

    I've NEVER heard anything bad about the guy you are talking about. He hangs out on the CMP forums and lots of guys there have sent a garand to him for different things. If you like short garands, I'm sure you will be more than happy. I plan on sending a rifle his way sometime in the next 3 or 4 months.

    Hello all, I'm that guy. I've never really understood all the problems folks have with shortened Garands. They have the same issues as any full size Garand. Do a search on Garand problems, you find;
    Garand won't cycle
    Garand piston worn
    Oprod binding
    clip ejecting too early
    Garand jamming
    and a host of other issues.

    The thing is that we expect these things from a regular Garand and they are "normalized" in our minds. We know the solutions and we deal with them. The thing is, the very same solutions apply to the shorter Garands.

    The two biggest things that a shorter Garand has to be able to do is;
    1. have a good solution for the oprod spring/follower rod mechanism
    2. Have a properly bent oprod

    After that, the rest is cake.

    I have a few Garands and one "Tanker". I think more highly of my Garands than I do my best friend but for fun shooting there is nothing like the Tanker. Lots of noise, fire and actually hits what I point it at. Mine is a 06 and has no problems except I don't get enough time to put more rounds through it.
