Smith & Wesson model 52-2 magazine

I just bought a model 52-2.
The gun came with one magazine with steel follower original.
I also bought a new magazine and it has a plastic follower and it does not work very well. Can any one tell me if there is any thing I can do as far as adjustments to make it work.

  Probably not. Its likely not the fact that the mag has a plastic follower, but rather the design of the magazine.
  
  I have a Smith 52 and use only factory magazines. You may just have to bite the bullet (no pun intended) and buy another original S&W mag. They are pricey, but worth it.

  First things first, look to your ammo. The M52 being made for a rimmed case, needs to come up bullet end high. Any over length ammo can hang in the mag. & not top out properly. Check to make sure all cases are trimmed properly & all bullets are seated all the way down flush.
  
  After the ammo is checked, if the problem still exists, compare the two mag.s for location of mag. catch. Make sure the offending mag. is locating & locking in the gun in the same manner/position as your original.
  
  Now if all else fails, look to the feed lips. Look closely for any burrs or rough spots that could catch the case as it is stripped from the mag. with the two magazines loaded (with ammo BUT NOT in the gun) & side by each, compare the angle & hight of the case as it comes up for transfer.
  
  A close examination of magazines thusly when you have a known worker usually will reveal the problem.
