Winchester Question

Not sure if this is a stupid question or not, but anyway, I was going thru my fathers gun cabinet and came across a Winchester model 65, It said it was a 30 WCP of 30WCF caliber. Is this possible as I cannot find any in the Blue Book that say such a caliber. The gun is in 90-95% condition all original.

    While at the barbers getting a haircut, I read a hunting magazine...Petersens Hunting magazine I believe and noticed that Winchester came out with its semi auto rifle with a adjustable stock available in the same calibers, but now included is the 325WSM...I checked the Winchester web page and see no mention of this...has anyone heard anything different or other information...I enjoy the semi autos FYI...Thanks.

    I don't know a lot about the new 94's, but it sounds as if you are describing the notch in the barrel where the extractor sits when the bolt is closed. Open the action and look on the face of the bolt. I think you will find that the extractor on the bolt lines up with the notch in the barrel.

    AE stands for "Angle eject". The empty shell is ejected at an angle. I think Winchester did this so you can mount a scope on top of the receiver. Standard 94's require a receiver side mount, which allows the empty shell to be ejected straight up.

    taperloc / you are correct in both cases after A closer look & ejecting A spent shell. Never say A 3030 with angle eject before, so this through me. Never owned A 3030. My so is looking to make trade for this gun & wanted me to look at it for him. Any idea about how old this gun is??

    As I said, I don't know much about the post 1964 Winchesters.

    I checked on of my books and it stated that angle eject became standard in 1982. There are probable more variations of post 1964 Winchester than there are recipes for chili.

    What Winchester and later USRA were doing was to try to mass-produce "collector items". As far as I know, except for the safety, there was little to no difference to the rifle mechanism. They are not built like the old (pre-1964) Winchesters.

    In good condition it would be worth about $140.00 - $150.00. Check GB auctions for post-64's and see what they are selling for.

    I will be amazed it he can find one sold for less than $300 in these days of instant USRAC collectability. I would love one for $150!
