Is the 7mm-08 on its way out?

Even though its seems to be a nice caliber, ammo prices for this are going up, ($25-$30) average. Does this mean its soon to disappear?

    i hope not, all ammo prices have been up lately and will probably
    keep the upward trend. for $25 a box you need to buy more.

    Checked the prices on 300WM lately. Glad I only use 3 or 4 a year.

    Last box I bought was 48.00, so I traded the 300WM for a 220 swift.

    The 7mm-08 is a great round and I wouldn't look for it to disappear any time soon.

    i have a 243, 260, 7mm-08, and a 358, a while back i came upon a great deal on 1000 308 unfires cases and as i reload i,m not to worried about not being able to buy factory ammo. eastbank.

    Lots of people like the better bc and sectional density of the .26 and .28 over the .30.. But in my humble and unexpert opine the .338fed loaded right will outshine the whole lot out to the reasonable range of the .308 case... Right now all ammo prices are up, but the 7mm-08 has hung on for atleast 30 years and will most likely still be around for a long time yet.

    I don't think so. Of this family of cartridges I would give the 260 less of a chance of survival than the 7mm-08.

    This thread indirectly makes a good case for reloading. Some folks are paying more for fairly common calibers than I spend on reloading for 9.3 Mauser, 338 Lapua and 416 Rigby. Of course you can also go broke saving money by reloading, but limiting your efforts to a few calibers has got to pay off.

    In case you haven't noticed *ALL* ammo prices have been going up!

    I think this is too popular a round with too many guns out there in use to disappear entirely any time soon.

    The worst case scenario is that its popularity will decrease over time driving prices up slightly compared to other similar rounds.

    Yes, I have noticed. However, today at a local Wally World, all the standard calibers: 243, 270, 30-06, 308's were at $16.97 for box of 20 Remington Core-Lokts. 7mm-08's were at $26.97 . I guess I don't understand what makes the "popular" 7mm-08 so high priced.
