I would like an estimate of the value of a couple of my guns for insurance purposes.

I have several guns I need to sell to assist in paying the funeral of our Daughter who passed away from Sarcoma. She was only 46 and had no insurance.

If any one can assisit me in determing a price I would greatly appreciate it.

You do your home work. And just for the record, the dealers do not go by the blue book, except to convince you you are getting a great deal.

The Blue Book of Gun Values and The Standard Catalog both offer values, updated yearly, but for the most part they are just not very reflective of the actual market. So, if you are looking for an Acme, model XL in SS, you do a search on GB for completed auctions to see what was actually paid in various conditon states. You can also put a bunch of auctions in your watch list and see what they do over time, what gets sold, what gets relisted. Take notes, pretty soon you will have a pretty good idea of what the market is doing and about what the one you want should cost.

Most all of the gun industry uses the "Book of Gun Values." Like HeDog said, GB is the best place to keep track of how the market is doing on individual guns.
