Smith and Wesson Model 31, 3" bbl, very good nickel finish (rust spot right side just above middle screw), crappy pearl-like grips, no box or papers.

On sale at Gun store for $129 + tax.

Buy?

    It is hard to find a Smith and Wesson of any kind for that price. I say get it before you regret it.

    If its original finish the price is good assuming you have a use for a 32 Long. Not a lot of collector interest. If it is a renickel the price is probably about right. Check the trigger and hammer; if those are nickel it will almost certainly be a refinished gun. $100 doesn't buy much these days so if it looked good and is reasonably tight I'd probably buy it. You can find S&W wood grips at any gun show or gun auction site . . .and eBay for that matter.

    I would buy it. I have a couple of 32 S&W longs and reload for them.

    Its a reasonable price for the gun, if its otherwise functional.

    Smith grips are easy enough to come by.

    Personally, I'm not a big fan of the 32 long cartridge, though.

    Ballistically, its weaker than the .380 ACP, or even the weakest of the .38 special loads.

    Plus factory loaded ammunition, while available, is not that common, and is relatively expensive (close to $0.50 per round right now).

    So unless you reload (or have more money than you know what to do with), that sort of invalidates this one for plinking/target shooting in my opinion.

    This is a toss up, but I think I would personally pass.

    I like Smith revolvers, but realistically, I would never carry this one, rely on it for defense, or shoot it often enough to justify owning it.

    Collectors value here is low since the gun is without original box or paperwork, and isn't in flawless condition.

    Buy it.
    I have the 1903 Hand Ejector, its' predecessor, and like it.
    The 32 Long S&W reloads easily and inexpensively.
    It can be loaded to 1000fps but lighter loads are more pleasant to shoot.
