s&w 41 help

my smith is serial 94234 do any of you out there know what type barrel belongs on it? i am sure that the current one is the wrong barrel but it shoots great. it does not have the lazy and symbol. it is a newer smith version that is drilled and tapped. when i bought it i knew it was the wrong barrel but the price was perfect for me. it also came with a steel follower magazine which i think is correct for its age. when was it manufactured and was this before the extended sight was made.
the one person i know said that it could have had a 5, 5.5 or 7 3/8 inch barrel on it. any help or info would be greatly appreciated.
the only reason i bought it was because i wanted a cocking indictor 41 that was a good shooter.
i run a 22 bullseye league on monday nights and try to carry with me a spare gun of whatever the others that are regulars shoot. so far i carry a spare high standard victor and trophy, ruger mark ii slabside has volquartsen parts it it as well as the originals that i carry for spares, ruger mark ii 22/45 and the 41. it looks like i might need to get a browning buckmark also. what would be a good price for a buckmark so i could carry a spare for that as well. all of these have red dots on them as well.
i always carry a complete set of spare parts for the high standards so if something breaks i can fix their gun for them that night. what spare parts might i need for the 41 and the rugers as i have them currently. also is there any buckmarks that are better then the others as there is such a variety of them. also are the triggers in the buckmarks different from one to the other.

There are no official barrel "types" for the M41, although there are minor finish & marking differences over the years. Based on the SN, yours was made in the late 1960's & most likely had one of the barrels you list. It could have had the 5.5" with EFS.

I agree with NMYERS could have had any of the factory barrels FWI most had the long barrel . I have been shooting in and running Bulls-Eye Matches for many years camp Perry 1972-2005. I to carry spare pistols and parts for unexpected break downs on shooters guns but only H.S and Karts. for the most part S&W model 41 don't break The High Standard does break a firing pin from time to time but I think it comes from DRY FIRING. The Ruger and Buck mark seem to be solid with the barrel screw and sight screw as well as slide hold-open lever the only problem I have seen on the Buckmark. Most 22 Problems come from Magazines that are filled with BLOW-BACK crud or bent lips and or ammo that may work in one pistol but not another. 0 -

but do you know wether it should have the lazy & symbol or the regular & symbol. i have a gut locally that will sell me an extended sight 5.5 with the regular & but not the lazy &. his price is 175 and is about 97 or 98 percent i want to buy but would like to know is it a good price and would it be correct for this or is the lazy & correct.

Finding a 5.5" EFS is a rare occurrence; if it's what you want, I wouldn't quibble about the slide markings or the price.

BUY it not many of these barrels out there. Last one I saw SOLD was much more then his asking price. 0 -

Not much breaks on the 41's, but you might have an extra extractor around.
Also consider a CLARK barrel. This can be a drop in or send the gun to them for fitting. They offer a 5.5" and a 6" already set up for a scope. The 5.5" Hvy barrel from S&W seems to be the most popular for Bullseye (other then the Clark's).

Based on 41s that I have lettered, 94234 would be somewhere in the Sept - Dec 1967 or possibly in the very early 1968 range of serial numbers (note that lettered dates indicate date shipped by S&W and not date when frame was produced). The correct barrel would have the "lazy &" and could have had the 5, 5 1/2, 5 1/2 EFS or 7 3/8 inch barrel. You mention a 5 1/2" EFS barrel in pretty decent shape for $175... I recently sold a 90% EFS "lazy &" for $275 and would definitely jump on a $175 EFS (ignore the lazy thing). 0
