FA91 legal in ca

I have a guy who has a Federal Arms 91 and is interested in selling it to me. I am located in ca and im pretty sure it would not be legal but i was not sure? is there any to make it legal if it is not already? thanks for the help in advance

    As long as it is in compliance with CA law then it should be legal-but of course that can be confusing as to what is allowed and what isn't. Check out this section for more info--you might be able to make it compliant. http://thegunwiki.com/Gunwiki/LegalCaliforniaHK

    Seems like a huge pain in the butt. I know there are AR's in CA now that use a fixed magazine and you open the gun like a double barrel shotgun to load it--dunno if that would work so well for a HK clone.

    It is not legal in the state in its stock condition.

    By the time you made it so, it would not be worth owning.

    In its "normal" configuration, the pistol grip with detach mag makes a 91 not legal by configuration. The alternative is using it as a fixed magazine weapon and there are inexpensive and reversible kits that accomplish this - there are literally thousands of PTR 91s newly in CA using this method as well as FALs, AK and ARs. All bought through FFL dealers, all very routinely acquired and used. The kits are almost universally a self install job with no machining, usually they cost about $25.00.

    If you are buying the gun from out of state, it would have to be made CA legal BEFORE it enters the state. There are intermediary FFLs out of state who handle this, sometimes it's fixing the mag other times it's just removing the pistol grip. My suggestion is you contact the seller in advance and ensure he's OK with your bidding.

    Might I add the FA91 is not known for its reliability and durability. The PTR91 is a much better gun.
