reviews on S&W M&P 15
I have a new Smith M&P 15. beautiful looking gun. Bought it a year ago after reading many reviews and deciding that it was worth the money. Never owned an AR, suprised at how dirty it got, oh well, still shoots remarkable(at the time) and I was enjoying it for about 1000 rnds. I have all bushmaster mags. and a couple stoner AR mags.
kept very clean and took out one day to shoot and it suddenly becomes a single shot rifle. I noticed the hammer pin had sheared right on the indent where the hammer sets on the pin. OK, strange but no big deal I guess, these are cheap pins so I upgrade to a stronger pin. Now I still have a single shot weapon and sometimes if I only load 10 rounds in a mag. I can get them all off without charging the bolt. Could it be the Mags?
Any help w/ this issue would be great. I know I can ship it out to S&W I just can't see anything major wrong or different about the gun since I bought it. I have stripped it time and time again and all seems well.

sounds like you need to clean the gas system Did you shoot imported Cheap ammo [?][?] 0 -
You need to be more specific about it being"a single shot". Does the bolt come all the way back or not move at all w/o manual help? When you load one round in the mag does the bolt lock open after firing? What ammo are you using? 0 -
For 300 bucks you can solve a lot of problems with an AR. Bushmaster sells a conversion to a piston to operate the bolt. You can say goodbye to the carbon and grime in the action. 0 -
Single shot: I insert 30 rnd. magazine, I pull back charge handle, let it slam forward loading the first round into chamber. I pull the trigger and one shot fires, one empty cartridge ejects and the bolt slams closed without loading another round into the chamber. I pull back handle, slams forward loading the next round from the magazine, fires the round, ejects the empty cartridge, bolt closes completely and no round is loaded into the chamber from the cycle.
Did I shoot cheap import ammo? If wolf ammo is cheap import ammo,then yes. I broke down this gas system completely and used a can or two of Gunscrubber, I am sure this gas system is clear.

Yes, I the bolt comes back all the way. Yes, the bolt locks back w/ one round in the chamber, just confirmed that.0 -
i would have bought the sig over an ar any day. however the ct compliant version is almost 2000 dollars. cant afford that. 0 -

Believe me brother, having AK's and never owning an AR, for the extra few hundred I wish I would of got the SIG, It wasn't a matter of money, I just liked the whole "looks"(yes, I said it,LOOKS) of the traditional S&W AR0 -
The rifle is immaculately clean. I have cleaned the crap out of the chamber and the shells eject fine. I did seem to thing it is a timing problem. Maybe the followers on the magazines I am using, or the magazines themselves.

I just took it out loaded one shot in the mag. charged it and fired it. It ejected and I just noticed that the bolt didn't lock at the mag. release catch. The bolt is stopping on the magazine itself. Should it be catching on the magazine or behind the black magazine catch( which would be the full rear position of the bolt hold open W/O magazine locked in)0
