When buying a gun, how do you know for sure if its new or not ?
They may list it as new, but how do you really know ?

  And, ultimately, if you can't tell, what does it matter ??
  
  After you put one round through it, it's used.

  A lot of sellers give a three day inspection period. Only you can't return it if you fire it or disassemble it are the usual stipulations.
  
  
  When you are inspecting it and notice signs of GSR, don't be alarmed, they test fire them at the factory.[;)]

  All handguns and many rifles are fired at the factory ergo very few unfired guns.

  Ask to see pictures of it, up close, and in DETAIL. If the seller does not want to furnish you with these, then he/she does not want to sell it very bad.
  
  Like has been mentioned look at the sellers feed back too. That can, and does tell you a lot about both the seller and the buyer.
