Marlin 22 Mag rifles

Has anyone ever shot their 22mag rifles? I saw a 983 for 249 NIB at the gun shop the other day. It was tube fed. Is this accurate enough for prairie dogging?

  Every one of the Micro Groove barrels I've had are extrememly accurate. Yeah it'll deplete the p-dog population fast. Happy shooting - Mike

  As long as you stay within the limitations of the cartridge...about 125 yards for a clean kill.

  I had a 925mn (wish I still did). Great little rifles and the Micro Groove barrels are impressive. I shot a bunch of rock chucks with mine.

  Got 983 in stainless with a Bushnell 3-9x32 and is pretty much dead on @ 125 or so yards. I love it. My $[:D].02

  Thanks guys...my only concern with micro groove barrels is that they might wear out faster. Any truth to this?

  how many worn out marlin microgrooves have you seen ,,been around since the late 50"s
