AK47 malfunction

I recently purchased a retaining plate and a Tapco G2 Single hook trigger group. I installed the parts as directed by the furnished instructions, but when I went to shoot the AK it would load and fire the first round but would not reset the hammer and trigger so could not fire a second round. Even though it would load the second round. I have disassembled and inspected the rifle several times but still get the same results. Can anyone help me figure this out? Thanks

    +1 there's a tiny little spring under the disconector.

    Also you want to be sure you didn't put the hammer in backwards or put the hammer sping on backwards.

    A little more info would be nice... what type of AK? What receiver? For example it's well known the Tapco parts won't work with certain NoDak Spud receivers...

    At one time, I had a similar problem with an SLR-101.

    One of the legs of the trigger spring would jump and cross over the other. This would not allow the hammer to reset for a second shot.

    Simple fix by using a paper clip to return the spring's end back into it's place. No disassembly was required.

    The disconnector spring is installed, actually I replaced it with a new spring. I have checked the hammer spring to make sure that it is installed as I have seen in the instructions. I will have to look at it tonight but the AK is Romanian, with a stamped receiver. The specific plant and other information I will have get later. Thanks for everyones help.

    Some photographs of trigger / hammer installation to verify you have the springs and hammer reinstalled in the correct orientation. Its down half the page under Installing the FCG.

    I had that very same problem with the ROMAK/WASR that was assembled by CAI. The problem was the hammer and dissconnector BOTH had machining burrs on them. The disconnector would not let go of the hammer to drop it back down to the sear. I used a medium grit stone and wiped the burrs off both, and walla!!!!!!....problem gone.

    On the Tapco G2 trigger group. Make sure you installed the sleeve that comes with it. It's not just an assembly aid but is required for the FCG to function. It goes over the trigger through the disconnector and trigger. You will get hammer follow if you don't have the sleeve installed. I know this 1st hand as the 1st G2 I installed I did so w/o the sleeve.

    Finally, Tapco had a problem recently with some disconnectors being drilled too deeply for the disconector spring. If you bought a Tapco G2 FCG in the last 6 months to a year, you might want to give them a call about a replacement disconector.

    Lastly, make sure the feet of your hammer spring are resting on the trigger.
