ar-15 colt magazines

hello just found a ammo can full of 30 20round ar-15 magazines. they are all marked colt and have silver followers. they are new and each in individual boxes that are dated 1970. are they worth anything other than to shoot or save for latter use. what is the value currently.

    Original "Colt" 20 mags seem to be more desirable these days but are not made any better than the same mags made by other govt contractors.

    I have a bunch of the Colt mags and a bunch of the mags made by other contractors. They are all nice mags. The followers are aluminum rather than plastic.

    Since they are NIB, I would quess about $25- $30 each.

    I have to agree with the above. I have a couple dozen that I use in my Target AR.

    it is nice cause you can put 7 of them in the old style bandoleers, and put 2 of those in a .30 cal ammo can. Makes a nice way to move mags.

    About half of my many AR mags are Colt. The rest are whatever. They all function without problems. Since my AR is a Colt, I like the Colt mags. Kinda like keeping a Ford engine in an old Ford hot-rod.

    The reason Colt mags work as well as other USGI contractors is because they are made by USGI contractors. Colt has never made AR mags, they buy them.

    They make good stuff, but any item with 'Colt' stamped on it is WAY overpriced. This poster doesn't have any better mags than can be obtained from several sources, but he does have something that certain people find more desirable.

    I'd put those still-in-the-original-wrapping Colt mags of up for auction. Just about guaranteed there's a collector or brand snob out there willing to fork over enough for you to purchase this same number of USGI mags from the same manufacturer - with cash left over.
