Browning 1885 stock finish

I have a Browning model 1885 that I have a couple of scratchs in the stock. The finish looks like almost a plastic type similar to some of the Remingtons. What can I do without completely stripping the stock finish and starting over. Thanks for any info. Terrill.

  I'LL ASSUME YOU HAVE A NEW M-1885, THE FINISH IS A POLY-URATHAIN (SP) AND AS YOU NOTE SCRATCHES REALY SHOW UP. THE BEST I'VE FOUND IS TRU-OIL (LIQUID), RUB SOME ON THE SCRATCHED AREA AND THEN WIPE IT OFF WITH A SOFT CLOTH. THE SCRATCH WILL BE LESS NOTICABLE, IF IT IS INTO THE FINISH THE ONLY WAY TO REMOVE IT IS A COMPLETE REFINISH.

  mike wiskey: I was afraid I would have to refinish the stock and that means the forend to so they match.Thanks for the info. Terrill
