Olympic Firearms ar15

I have been advised by 2 dealers in my area not buy an Olympic firearms ar15.
I am curious of the qaulity of the rifle. And if you have any input on the pros and cons of the manufacturer.

    I've had mine for 16 years and fired enough ammo to fill a bath tub. It's never missed a lick !!!!!!!

    Only issue with mine was when I took the rifle down the first time to clean the firing pin retainer (cotter pin) was messed up enough to come out but not go back in. Cost be a buck to buy a box of them at the auto shop.

    I heard the same but had good feedback on here regarding them. May just be a Mercedes/Chrysler comparison thing. I'm sure my Oly is not as prestigious as an older Colt or a new Sig but I still managed to get me an AR. I'll just have to wait and see how it performs. And with the current state of affairs with AR's if it's not great I'm guessing I'll have no problem flipping it.

    I have a couple and so does a buddy. We have never had any problems with them.

    Here is one of my favorite AR's and it is an OA.

    I have only had this one since June. It has about 2k run though it. It has an SRT integral suppressor on it.

    There is nothing wrong with an Olympic Arms AR-15. If you want one you better get it NOW. The ones to stay away from say Hesse, Blackthorn, or Vulcan on. They are pure junk. Olympic was one of the original aftermarket AR-15 makers back in the early 80's.

    Just a bit of a guess, but last year a fellow was convicted of illegally transferring an NFA (full auto)& the gun involved was reported as an Olympic Arms. Without going into the particulars of the case, some media reports were that the gun malfunctioned & there was a problem with the brand. This may or may not have been true, it may have been a defense strategy or poor reporting. But it was broadcast - that may be what some folks seem to recall. One of those "I'm not sure why" but this is what I think responses.

    Yeah I know of that report. The gun double fired because of soft primered ammo was used and the stainless steel firing pin had enough inertia to fire the ammo off. Just like any firearm with a floating firing pin, that can happen. If it does, its an easy fix.......just put a titanium pin the in the gun.

    Thanks for the input, I am not asking if I should buy a gun, I am going to get an ar, I was expecting a little honest input from gun owners instead of dealers.
    It appears I have, from many like yourself who have them and enjoy them, don't know who you are or where you are, but maybee we'll meet up at a range one day.

    I have a pre ban AR that I bought a few years ago. Not so much as a hiccup. Like any AR style, keep it clean. And enjoy!
