Taurus PT1911

I'm interested in purchasing a new Taurus PT1911 but a local dealer said Taurus is having major quality control problems right now and getting warrenty work done is almost impossible. Does anyone know anything about this?

Also, does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with Crimson Trace laser grips?

  I've owned/own a few 1911s, a Caspian and a few Kimbers....I am curious if anyone owns the Taurus PT1911.....
  
  
  It seems like a very reasonable price with the features..how is the quality? How does it shoot?

  The PT1911 offers a lot for the money. Some owners complain about the MIM parts but many manufacturers are using them now. One common problem sems to be the thmb safety breaking. However it's a very cost effective replacement. I will be picking up a used one soon. Check the forum at www.m1911.org for more info.

  I really like mine. Very accurate and a good feel. The ambi thumb safety broke on the right side pretty quickly, but the Taurus' carry a lifetime warantee. Not a big issue for me. Lots of pistol for the money.
