smith & wesson 38 ammo

when i was doing some cleaning today i ran across a ammo can that i put some silvertip 38 ammo in that is smith & wesson is there any collector value or is it just good ammo to shoot and save the silver brass? if collector value it has a blue smith box packed 50 to the box standing up in foam inserts. didn't have the camera with me to take pics.

    There may be a little collector interest due to the S&W box.

    The big thing for ammo collectors that Smith made was the Nyclad rounds.

    Silvertip ammo was made by Winchester. If its in a Smith & Wesson box it would of little interest to collectors.

    What is the headstamp on the shells?

    I have some S&W 357 Mag. 158 gr jacketed hollow points with a S&W headstamp.

    Any collector interest in these ?

    not a picture of the ones i have someone elses picture. and they are marked s&w on the top of the shell just like the ones pictured here but they are 38

    I have several boxes of the S&W 357 in boxes that are in almost new shape. I've been told that there is some collector interest that may bring a slight premium, but not much.

    Even assuming the box were pristine, I doubt this would be worth that much more than a comparable box of new-maufacture ammo.

    For another few bucks at most, its probably not even worth the hassle of trying to sell it.

    I'd just shoot it and forget it.

    well i will probable put them back in an ammo can along withe the 357 and 44 that i found in another can all s&w blue boxed stuff. right now i found 5 38 4 357 and 2 44. how many types where made for s&w anyway?

    S&W HAD DISCONTINUED THEIR AMMO PRIOR TO 1986. I'VE BEEN TOLD IT WAS MADE BY FIOCCHI. MY REHAWK (1986) PUT THREE IN AN ALL TOUCHING CLOVERLEAF AT 25 YDS RESTED. GOT IT SIGHTED IN ONLY TO FIND IT WAS NO MORE.

    The only S&W ammo which is of real value is the rounds with Nyclad bullets.
