Mossberg 9200 Scary Problem **UPDATE**

I'm sure you guys probably don't remember this thread, but I'll continue on:

Well, nearly a year later, and I remember to send this thing off last week...
Got a call this afternoon from Mossberg with the bad news that the gun was discontinued and they had run out of parts for it. Couldn't fix.

Good news is...

They're replacing it with a brand new Model 930 with a 24" turkey barrel, a 28" barrel, a regular stock, and a pistol-grip stock with the whole deal dipped in MO Breakup..... gratis.

All they have to do is transfer the SN to the new gun and ship.

THAT is the definition of good customer service. That gun was probably 15-20 years old. Who does that anymore???

People may give me crap for shooting a Mossberg 500 and I have for years, but the company stands behind it's product 1000%

** I did ask the guy at the end of the call if they knew what was wrong with the old gun, and he said they didn't care enough to even look.**

    Their products should not have to be returned for warranty work no where nearly as much as they do. That is called shoddy quality and workmanship. Worst part is, that everyone else is trying to compete with their junk guns by making junk guns themselves...hence the new Remington 887.

    Lastly,

    I am quite sure that them "transferring the serial number", is not legal as the new gun, is not only just a new gun, but a new model. Last I knew a mfg had to put a new serial number on a new gun. Still sure you like to deal with them?

    What other company would take back a 15+ yr old product that is discontinued and exchange it for a brand new model??

    As far as the SN issue, you're wrong. The old receiver can be destroyed and the old # attached to the new gun. Simple as that.

    How do yuou know if the 887 is a "junk gun" when it hasn't been released yet?

    Have you had a chance to test fire any of Remington's prototypes?

    I have an 870 express(actually 2 of them)...they are indeed an 870, and not over 50% over moulded plastic. Remingtons quality control at present SUCKS, and a plastic gun is not going to make it any better. Your 870 is proven!

    I paid less than $350 for my 870 express & have been doing the math with it for 12 years w/o a hiccup.

    West, I dont think you had a problem with your gun. I still believe it was the ammo. But in the end it all worked out for you. Congrats[:)]

    bought a moss. 500 in 410 at a gun show. was beautiful, looked to be a 99% gun. got it home, shot 12 inches low at 20 yrd, wouldn't eject or feed properly. called mossberg with all details, telling them i bought it used. they ask me to send it to them, they repaired all problems including a new barrel for NO CHARGE. great company
