Marlin 39A rife serial K20906 (1953) value?

Any ideas of the value of a Marlin 39A .22 rife serial K20906? I don't know how to "rate" guns but I'd say it's in very good condition for a 40+ year old gun. No cracks but some dings and dents in wood. Shoots as good now as it did when I was a kid in the '50's

    I should add the gun was manufactured in 1953 (serial number lookup)

    Go to the following link and you will get an "idea" as to what your Marlin 39A is worth: http://gunbroker.com/Auction/SearchResults.asp

    Or, go to the top of the home page and click on "smart search" and then type in Marlin 39A in the "Search Words" block, drop down to the "Show Only" box and click on the drop down arrow, or you might have to click on the "Sign In" notice first. Afterwards, click on the "Ended within last 90 days." This will show you the completed auctions and maybe there will be a few similiar to yours and what it might bring on auction.

    Now why didn't I think of that.... (I've sold over 1400 items on a popular auction site.. I research prices all the time. Just didn't think of doing it here.)

    You're very welcome armed_preacher. I think you might find that if your 39A is in very good condition, plus being made in 1953 with the Ballard rifling as opposed to the micro-groove type which came along in 1954, that you will find your Marlin will be near the high end of HenryOReilly's estimate.

    I don't think I could ever bring myself to sell this gun. I remember when I was about 12 (44 yrs ago) I'd carry that gun through our corn fields a rabbit huntin' Of course, I always ended up at the river shootin cans..... (I lived on a farm)

    I have a 39 that is 9340 older than yours The absolutly best shooting .22 I've ever shot. Accuracy beyond my capability and, like you I'd never think of letting it stray from home![:)]

    I have a Marlin Golden 39A Mountie .22 and I sure do have a lot of fun plinking with that gun. Would I ever sell it? I don't think so! Well, OK, for the right price! And that would be ... beaucoup denari!
