JC Higgins revolver
I have a JC Higgins nine shot .22 revolver that belonged to my wife's father. It was his service revolver when he was a police officer for the village of Cary, IL sometime in the '50's. I know the brand was sold exclusively through Sears, but does anybody know who made it? What about value?

I have a JC Higgins model 88 nickel plated revolver in it's original box. Also with this I have a box of STA-KLEAN 22 long rim fire cartridges.Everything is in excellant condition. What would all this be worth? Do not plan to sell it was my grandpa's. Just curious. 0 -
It was made for Sears by the High Standard Co. of Conn. High Standard sold a very similar revolver under their own name as the "Sentinel". They were made in great quantity over a period of at least 20 years by High Standard. Depending on factory originality and cosmetic condition, they usually sell in the $150-$250 range. Many are found on the two large net gun auctions. Check the actual selling prices to get a "ballpark" value for yours. 0 -
I guess anything is possible, but I have never heard of police officers using .22s for duty guns. 0 -
Well, you would if you knew the village I'm talking about. There's not much there now, in the 50's there was even less, think Mayberry.

Sears also sold a version of the High Standard Double Nine in .22LR.
You didn't give us much of a description of your revolver. But the Sentinel resembles a Smith & Wesson type DA revolver. While the Double Nine looked more like an SA Colt "Cowboy" gun.0 -

My Dad had a Model 88 and it was a great little revolver. Wish my mother hadn't give it away when he passed. 0
