BEST .243 Bolt action Rifle For $600 or less

I just want to hear everyone opinion about the best brand of rifle for $600 or less. I am looking at Savages, Remington model 700's, and the new Ruger m77 hawkeye. Looking for a good rifle that shoots well, it does not need to shoot better than I, inch groups or a bit larger is fine. That is a hell of a lot better than I can hold it. Reliable, tough, something that I can have for the rest of my life. I will not shoot the rifle enough to shoot it out. Thanks

    Buy a nice used Savage with the accu-trigger or a Rem 700 and put a Burris scope on it in Burris signature rings. You will be very happy with either.

    Best bang for the buck, and you won't feel like you are holding a 2x4 in your hands, and that is the Tikka-T-3. Nothing needs to be done to the trigger, the bolt is smoother than silk panties, and the ergonomics are outstanding, not to mention the accuracy. It comes with the rings to mount a 1 inch tube scope with up to a 40mm lens.

    There are a lot of options with in your price range, and the rifles you listed are all good rifles. Buy what you like best. I did buy a tikka t 3 lite about 1 1/2 years ago, I do like it, and it is accurate, great trigger. Only down side it isn't American made, and after more thought I now only buy imported if I can't get a comparable American product. But that has nothing to do with your question.

    Two things 1) which one fits you best and is most comfortable for you to use. 2) Is it something you would be proud to pass onto your grandchildren?

    The voice in the wilderness has but one thing to say,
    You're making a mistake if you don't take a serious look at the Hawkeye.
    That said, if I ever have the chance I will buy back a rifle I should have never let go, a Ruger Mk.II Ultralight, .243. Shot everything from 58 grains up to 105 into sweet tight groups.

    Check out the used rifle sections at your local pawn shops and gun stores. Look for a nice Remington 700, (especially the BDL or CDL) Winchester Model 70, Tikka, Husqvarna, S&W (the ones made in Sweden), and Howa rifles. You should be able to buy one in 98% condition with a good Leupold, Burris, Nikon, or Redfield scope for under $600.

    +1 on the savage, even if it isn't an accutrigger you can get a good upgrade from SSS for reasonable $ and then put the rest in glass.

    Try CZ. All wood & steel, high polish bluing and a n adjustable set trigger.

    I own about 30% Ruger, 30% Remington & 30% CZ for rifles. Have to say I'm disappointed in the newer Rugers, the CZs have maintained their positive qualities and have an excellent rep for accuracy. Worth a look.

    Two thumbs up for the fine Ruger 77 Hawkeye, or Savage besides they're made in the USA, forget the foreign made Tikka CZ crap.
