Turkish Mauser Stocks
I have a 1903/1944 K.Kale. Someone attempted to "Scrape" the stock and after a poor job, they tried to sand it out. Looks real bad. I am thinking about replacing the stock. My questions are;
1.) I have not taken the stock off yet. Are Turks usually numbered to match the rifle?
2.) Pics I see of the 1903 show a metal locking piece that holds the front "rear" ring in place. Mine has a screw through the ring and into the stock. Are there some models that do not use a locking piece? Or is this the wrong stock?

Are you sure your rifle is a 1903?
That stock is a 38 turk, not a 1903. The 1903's have the spring retainer there. The 38's usually have a bent nail, or in rare cases a screw in that band.
I am not fond of the nail myself. I just reworked a 38 to use a 1903 type retainer, much more solid.0
