WW2 helmet

I have a WW2 helmet with liner and straps,that belonged to my Grandpa he was 82nd Airborne, its in good condition, any one know the value of this?

    Post some pics, there are a lot posted on the auction side. Keep an eye out there, or search recently completed auctions for a better idea.

    If the helmet is a fixed bale with original liner and straps,plus any markings painted on the helmet $250.- $500.Airborne helmets bring a premium.This demand started after the movie Band of Brothers.

    I'd think long and hard about selling Grandpa's hat! Sounds like a family heirloom that should be passed down along with the history.

    I assume it is a US helmet, and not a helmet from a different country that your grandpa had in his possession

    Even a swivel bale can have enough provenance to justify a fairly high price; I have an WWII swivel bale M1 that has an original tag inside of the helmet liner with names written on it, and has an original unit decal and hand lettering inside, for example. The helmet shell also bucks the commonly held wisdom on some heat treatment dates, which may-or may not- add value.

    As this helmet in question is a family heirloom, I would suggest not selling it

    This helmet is a U.S. fixed bale, there is a number on the inside of the helmet " US 62 " not sure what that means, there are no other markings. I will check out the web sites Blairweescot provided. Yesterday, while cleaning out a bulding I found an old footlocker, there was a Walther p38 with holster and belt and a U.S. pineapple grenade wrapped up in his uniforms, not sure if the grenade is innert, something I am not messin with.

    call your local or state police bomb squad or nearest military base for disposal on the grenade..if inert they will hand it back...post photo's of the p38 and check for capture paperwork...you are sitting on alot of ww2 historical artifacts that will need to be identified and cared for set values on each item and insure them...what color is the gun rig and check to see if the serial numbers match on the p38 what condition is it in?..what type of buckle is on the belt?..post some photo's and you will get more accurate advice on what you have and value's ...nice treasure box you found...keep it together ..you wont regret it[:D]

    Don't sell your Grandpas stuff. That is something that should be carried down. Just my opinion,
