Tristar pump 12

Hello Experts. Has anyone fired the Tristar pump 12 gauge synthetic? It's made in Turkey I believe by the same company that makes the side by side Turkish shotguns(can't remember their name....something loo??). Anyone found any fit/finish or cycle problems? Local sporting good store has them new for $119!!!

    if so, and they are only asking $119.00 buy that sucker.

    hello. i bought one of the tri-star COBRA tactical models. comes with the top folding stock ( all steel ) and standard synthetic stock. magazine tube runs all the way to the end of barrel, but only 5 shot. i modified mine to 8 shot. very easy to do. has a spring loaded forend. i shot it today for the first time, and all i can say is WOW! it is just about as fast as a semi-auto. the springloaded forearm actually pulls itself forward. it is super fast and fun.

    recoil was almost non existant. i paid 260.00 for it from local dealer. the gun will also take any mossberg after market stocks or pistol grips. in my opinion, this is the best buy for tactical shotguns out there. i am going to get a second one.

    This one looks more like your basic black synthetic pump. Probably a 5 shot 26-28 inch barrel.

    BURPFIRE COULD YOU PLEASE tell me how you modified yours to 8shot. I bought one at a gun show sunday and the dealer told me it was 8 shots, but to my dissapointment it only holds 5 shells[:(] I would really appreciate your information.

    hello. first thing you have to do, is to shorten the magazine tube spring. this spring is literally 3ft long! remove the mag tube by unscrewing it from the receiver. take the spring and put it back in the tube untill it bottoms out. cut off the excess spring, leaving approximately 4 inches sticking out. that will give you enough spring to work reliably.

    now, the tricky part. right where the nut that holds the barrel onto the mag tube, you will see threads. inside the tube right at the threads, the tube constricts! you have to get this open in order to get the extra shells past this. i used the shell tube follower ( flipped upside down )
    with a wooden dowel to ram it past the ring. i then rammed the spring stop in the tube ( its located on the very top of the tube, it keeps the spring from coming out ) with the extra follower back the other way. i had to do this several times. it is very hard the first couple of times. check it everytime you get it past the threads. leave the spring out and put 7 rds of shotgun ammo in the tube. if they all fit, you are good to go. if they get stuck, you have to do it some more. also, the threads might expand a little from doing this, so screwing the nut on when done the first time, will be a little tight.

    when you are done though, you will be very happy as it is by far the fastest pump gun i own.

    Hey burpfire, how did you get the mag tube unscrewed? I've tried everything I can think of and it has barely budged! I've heard that a strap wrench could be used so I bought one and tried it and it didn't work.

    Also, FWIW, here's the Tristar "Cobra Force" shotgun. Its *supposed* to be a 5+1 capacity gun.

    For $119 this looks like a total no-brainer. How can that price possibly be correct? I'd buy that in a second.
