Tea Garden Rifle

Has any one heard of a TEA GARDEN RIFLE ? The only data on this Pc. is that of its German Mfg. It is a very well built .177 caliber that is powered by a percussion cap! I was told when I rcvd. it that it was called a "Tea Garden" rifle made for friendly competitions held in the Estates tea gardens of its wealthy owners. This precision built rifle has its swing out breech placed about 12" back from the muzzle of the bull & rifled barrel where both the cap and pellet are loaded. Never having seen anything like this I ask for any info that any one has. Pictures available, and will be posted shortly. Thank You!

    The target rifle you describe is more commonly known as a Zimmerstutzen in German, or a Parlour Gun in English. They date to the last quarter of the 19th Century when the indoor form of target shooting became popular.

    Here is a picture of one that has a similar loading arrangement to yours, with the loading chamber on the forward portion of the barrel.

    Sir, That is the exact same mechanism I have! Thank you for the info and giving me a place to start researching it. Is there anything more you could tell me about this one? I now know the proper name to research so I am much better off than I was! Thank you very much.
