Does anybody know what the first striker fired handgun was, when it was built and what caliber. Thanks.

Well the first common on I am aware of is the Glock 17 which is a "full size" 9mm. They hit the market in the early 80's.

Doing a web search on striker fired pistols might pull up more info.

Many, many, before the clock.

One that I owned was an AMT backup single action .380ACP, made of stainless steel that I first bought in the late '70s.

I will have another.

The 1908 Colt was striker fired.

Thanks, I tried a couple searches, but didnt find anything definate. I was talking to a guy in the gun shop, and he said the SW 4006 was the first gun chambered in .40 cal, and it made me wonder about some other firsts.

I don't think he was correct about the 4006, either.

A lot like S&W not manufacturing the first .44 Remington Magnum.
