870 mag extension

I purchased an 8 shot extension for my 870 and it has an 18" bbl. The extension sticks out past the muzzle about 2". Is this ok to shoot or should I get a smaller extension, longer bbl?

    hello. go ahead and shoot it with the extension on, it wont hurt anything.

    If it is a steel extension you should be fine. If it is polymer I'm not so sure.

    I found it at a local gunshop here in Austin, Tx $47.99. Reds Indoor Range North, it was actually behind the Benelli extensions and they didn't even know they had it. I've seen them on GB auction for less but it was sort of an impulse buy.

    Your just fine to shoot it. I have seen guys at 3-gun matches I shoot who have mag extensions that extend almost a foot beyond the muzzle and they work fine.

    They get dirty with powder grunge but do not interfere with the shot pattern when it leaves the barrel.
