?? scope mounting for stevens favorite M30

I want ro know how to mount a scope on a recently purchased steven favorite M30 17 HMR with an octagon barrel. The receiver is not groved but there is one tapped screw hole on the barrel??? Scope manufactorers and savage company have not responded.

  Try Weaver # 31 you will need two and have to drill and tap.

  savage makes a mount for this rifle, if you remove the rear sight you will find another tapped hole, the mount uses these two holes , no other holes to drill , i went a different route with mine, i mounted a 6x short tube malcolm , rifle looks like a miniture buffalo rifle , rather cute and very accurate
