Can Acra-Glass be thinned?

Hello, can Acra-Glass, either gel or liquid, be thinned with something while still retaining its qualities?

    I suggest you ask Brownell's, they will know and are most helpful.

    Rubbing alcohol should thin it. Try it and let us know how it works.

    Anytime you dilute an epoxy with "solids" (something that will not evaporate such as Asotone would during the application)you lose strength. Therefore it will not retain the original strength. The question is how much strength do you really need?

    I have seen the liquid and it is real light, so I'm not sure why you would cut this.

    Wondering why you'd need to thin either the gel or the liquid?
    Did one stock, years ago, with the standard acra-glass and have used the gel ever since. I had a hard time with the short working time on the regular; it starts to set up FAST. Never had any problems with the gel and you got all kinds of time to work with it.

    yes, you can use laquer thinner

    Get either one of them good and hot and they will thin out too...... especially the liquid..

    Hey Guys...Am I glad this was posted. I never knew what Acra was until I read it. It perked my interest because I own a Fajen "Acra" rifle imported by Fajen in the early 70's. They had Santa Barbara actions and the stocks were "glass bedded" hence...Acra! Mine was chambered in .284 Win and they came with 24" thin contour barrels and Timney triggers. The 1973 Gun Digest has info on them. THANKS!!!
