SMITH AND WESSON MODEL 91

SCPO RICE
A local pawn shop is selling a gun I have never seen before in any gunshow. It is a Model 91 Single shot Smith and Wesson 10 inch barrel. Cannot read all the numbers clearly I saw 18, 80, mAY, 1L80, and pat and apr. These were some of the words and numbers I could make out. The selling price is 799.00. Can anyone tell me if this is a fair price. I am looking for the gae and the value if anyone knows. Thank you for the help.

    The model 91 made by S&W was a pair of handcuffs, not a gun.

    If it has a patent date on it, then it was made long before they started using model numbers.

    What caliber is the piece your refering to?

    Hello I think you were looking at a S & W STRAIGHT LINE Looks sort of like a Browning Buckmark with a thin barrel However it is a single shot I was made many years ago 1926-1936 . IF the bluing is original and pistol is in good condition then that is a VERY GOOD price . These guns were made to compete with other single shot pistols made by Colt "Camp Perry model" , H&R, Iver Johnson, Webly and others these were target guns and for the most part did not see hard use.     This gun definetly looks like as you described. I know it is a 22 lr single shot , no cylinder visible, very long and thin frame. The grips are excellent and the bluing is about 65 to 70 percent. I am not sure where they get the model 91 there is no model number 91 engraved on the barrel anywhere that I could see. thanks for the info so far.

    Perry Shooter, I looked up a straight line being sold on Gunbroker it is not that gun. The barrel is long and rounded, with a break action to load a single shot. Unlike the Straighline which is square looking, like the buckmark. As I said before I have never seen a gun resembling this one.

    Hello BOBSKI and TSR I did not know I was that easy to read[:0][:o)][:I]. I guess you guys know me too well. Mr SCPO RICE You are looking at a model 1891 either First ,Second , or Third model these all are top break action with a profile of a Revolver but are all single shots the first and second model are single action only "you Have to cock the hammer with your thumb" and the third model is double action the trigger will both cock and let the hammer fire at the end of the trigger movement this pistol was made before the straight line. I will pay you a finders fee . If you do not want to purchase and cangive me contact information I hope this is not against Gun Broker rules.
