FFL Question

What are the current fees associated with getting an FFL-01? Just toying with the idea. Thanks

    I was just wondering how many guns can you legally buy and sell a year without having an FFL.

    The ffl dealer keeps the 4473 form and data he enters in the bound book. The NICS check is to determine if the person attempting to purchase has a felony conviction or adjudication of mental illness, maybe another thing or two. These would disqualify the proposed buyer.

    A reciever made after 1898 is legally considered a firearm. The dealer is erquired to do the same things as if you were buying any modern firearm- to have you complete the form 4473, and conduct a NICS background check. Disqualifiers include having been convicted of a crime that is a felony, having been adjudicated as mentally incompetent, being an illegal alien, convicted of a crime of domestic violence, dishonorably discharged from the US military, being under a restraining order, being a fugitive from justice, being an unlawful user of controlled drugs, etc. If you pass the background check, the dealer retains the completed form 4473 at his place of business, and logs the receiver out of his records to you.

    You've previously told us you are in business, & are selling a hoard of gun parts. If you are buying receivers in order to resell, you need to get a Federal Firearms License.

    I am just selling off some antique barrels i came across. I have never bought a gun or a receiver in my life and wondered what was involved. I did have one receiver for an 1873 winchester but it was pre 1899. These laws are complicated for sure.
