I for one would not attempt This conversion IMHO the Martini Cadet is not the strongest design ."YOUR MILEAGE MAY VARY"

Edit I defer to martini cadet I had one in 22 hornet and it developed Primer flow and head space but it sound like other people have chambered this action to some fairly HOT Cartridges. Sorry about what looks like bad advice[:I]

The cadet is a stronger action than the large full martini. I have 5 357, 2535, 218 masbrn bee, 310, and 22 K Hornet and all have been shot alot without problems. I have friends with 219 Zipper and 22 PPC not a problem. Get a new barrel and enjoy it. The only thing you might have to do is bush the firing pin hole if the pressures are on the high end.

The one perry shooter had was probably a .22 target rifle (m-12 or 15) with the removable trigger assy. These, while strong, are 'spongy' and have to be headspaced very tight with higher pressure cartriges.

On P.O. Ackley's personal advice, I converted several Martinis to his 219 Ackley Improved Zipper. The 310 Cadet bolt had to be bushed and the firing pin diameter reduced. This cartridge is the 30-30, necked down with the shoulder blown forward. This round was duplicated later by Winchester as the .225 Win, except they thinned the rim to function in the Model 70 bolt.
His standard loads bulged the chamber which apparently is too thin walled for this large diameter case. A premium Douglas barrel was ruined. When I complained to him he recanted and said "yeah, but it's ok for the standard Zipper".
There were many successful conversions to 357Mag, Hornet and 222 Rem.
The firing pin and bolt face work need to be done for any high pressure conversion.
