S&W model 49 D.O.M.
Can someone tell me when this model 49 was made, serial #901J8. I would also like to know who makes a book with the dates of manufacture for the Smith and Wesson's.

Looks like your gun was made in 1972.
The book is the "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson" by Jim Supica & Richard Nahas. The 3rd edition is the most current.0 -
