Can you ship directly to buyer to save a lttlew bit of money?[?]

    Skeeter- if shipping across a state line, and not shipping a gun to yourself, it will need to go thru a FFL. If FROM a New Mexico resident TO a New Mexico resident, yes, can ship direct. Exception- buying from a New Mexico FFL, you will still need to go see them, fill out the paperwork, background check, etc.

    To get a FFL you'll need to show that you intend to run a business, with all the associated hassles. Zoning, business license, maybe a separate tax id, etc.

    If you are getting it from an instate seller and they are not an FFL, it can be shipped directly to you like a face to face sale.

    A New Mexican buying from a dealer out of state must have the firearm shipped through a transfer ffl, uless it is C&R and you hold a C&R ffl. This applies to longguns and handguns.

    skeeter...rule of thumb, if it crosses a state line...ffl is involved.

    Hey Skeeter, the trouble you're looking at to get an FFL cost way more than the $30 some dealers here charge.
    If you're buying from out-of-state, you have to have it sent to an FFL for transfer to you. There are hundreds of FFLs waiting to handle that purchase; how much you pay is directly related to WHERE you are in nM. I know FFLs in Ruidoso, Carlsbad, Albq, Santa Fe, Taos, Clayton, Portales, Lordsburg & Cruces that only charge $20-25 to do transfers.

    Yeh your probably right , just looking into it a little.
    I pay $50.00 at the closest gun shop which is Tina's Range Gear, Santa fe,NM. too far to drive to the others.
    so its off to the guns show in March 7th,in ABQ,NM . Just bought a
    9 mm beretta 951 brigader, off the gunbroker site,279.00 after shipping and ffl transfer. (199.00+)didn't do bad if it fires when it gets here.
