S&W M&P (1905 4TH CHANGE)
I posted a topic on this pistol about two weeks ago and with the help of the form, was able to determine exactly what gun I have. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask the value of the gun.
The revolver is nickel and in 80 - 85% condition. Locks up tight, timings good. I have seen what the blue book values this pistol, but the ones listed on the aution side are nowhere close to the value of this firearm. I have not seen any that were nickel though. Were many made? If so, is the value any better?
Most of the ones I have seen on the aution side start at about $250.00 and go up from there. I looked at some completed auctions as well and did not see any nickle plated pistols.
Just curious.
Thanks,
Aaron

Best if you could post quality pictures of the S & W. If the nickel plate is factory original, and the extent of the missing plating has a great baring on value. 0 -
I am unable to post pictures at this time. The finish is original and the only area where there is any wear is at the end of the muzzle, due to holster wear. There are a couple of extremely small "spots" in the last two inches of the 5" barrel. Other than that, the finish is nearly flawless. The cylinder has a line around it from turning. Other than that, no issues on the finish. 0 -
I'm certainly not a S&W expert but do have several and like them. The nickle plating dosen't add much in value unless near perfect. there were a 'ton' of s&w m&p 4th change pistol made from the 20's to the 40's and a lot were nickled. 0 -
