DCM M1 Garand ???
I am getting ready to post a Springfield, M1 Garand for sale on GB.
I know little about M1's and have never dis-assembled it. The serial # is in the 543,000 range. The barrel is stamped SA 11-64.
I purchase this rifle through the DCM in 1986 after competing in a high-power rifle match and have all of the related paper work. I always wanted an M1 and figured that this was a way to get a good one at a very reasonable price. I have only put two clips through it and it shot well. It has been stored in my safe for years.
There are no cartouches on the stock. There is a "P" stamped on the front side of the pistol grip. The stock appears to be walnut, but is slightly lighter than the fore wood. It has no nicks or dings. The top and fore wood has some dings and one small chip.
I want to be as honest and forthright as possible when I list it
What are some of the impotent things I should include in the description?

Some good clear pictures of the gun would help. If you could get a hold of gauges to measure throat errosion and muzzle wear and list the numbers for those.
Good pics and a thorough accurate description will go a long way.
You say you always wanted an M1 but now your selling it.... Why?0 -
Photos of receiver, left side, right side, and photo of DCM release papers. (State what DCM grade it was sold as). Put the words "DCM CMP Garand with Papers" into the item title as keywords. It will draw more than the casual window shopper.
I think the explanation you have just given to us is quite good. Best, Joe0 -
I also recommend stating, for those who might now know the DCM, that the CMP is what they call the DCM nowadays 0
