Hi Standard Derringer & Holster
I saw a very nice late model Hi Standard .22 Mag derringer for sale today priced at $200. It has one of those holsters that allow you to fire the gun without removing it from the holster, you know, those that were banned by ATF. Can these holsters be registered and used and if so how, and how much would it cost? Is it legal to own one if it is not used with the derringer? Thanks for sharing your expert knowledge on this topic. I am thinking about buying but don't want any problems.

If factory original and in at least very good condition, buy the Derringer. The price is right. Lose the holster, don't worry about it.
I had one of them years ago, late manufacturer .22 Mag. It was only reliable with Federal .22 Mag ammo. Many misfires with other brands of ammo.0 -
I see the auction prices are a touch higher than $200.00, but I just bought a blued one (in CA) for $190.00 and of course, at the next gun store, found another nickled one for $175.00. So $200.00 is pretty much ballpark for the gun alone.
As to whether constructive possession applies to the holster - not sure if's federally banned, but if it's not you'd also want to check your state laws.0 -
It's not banned, you just need to apply for a permit to make an Any Other Weapon ($200) before you have both in your possession.
