    just trial & error one from a 1/2 inch wooden dowel

    FYI- After some trial and error, an oak dowel 5" x 3/4 " works fine. Drilled out center to reduce weight. I'll try the 28 gauge out on some bunnies this afternoon.

    Make sure that you dont drill to much out of the dowel. I had a game warden check my plug in my shotgun, when he saw that it was home made he tried his best to break the plug. Luckily he couldnt break it so i did not get a ticket. David

    Dave, The warden will have to be packing a 1/8 hex key with him in order to get to the plug. As for the strength of the dowel, I thought oak would be better than pine.

    Another A hole warden thinks he's God. Nowhere does it say you cant break them, All the old time plugs weere wood some way less then 3/4 which I could easily break, I think some states first criteria for a warden is bully
