Building another AR
I have another stripped RRA lower thats getting lonely, was thinking about the 458 socom, as I already have a 223, and the mags will work without modification. Anybody have one of these, what are the pros and cons, other than it's expensive to shoot even if you reload. Thanks

While they may look "cool", these heavy hitters are very specialized tools. Like everything else you can have whatever you can afford but my opinion is there are other caliber combinations that are more fun. Just my opinion. 0 -
Not my choice either but if it is what you want go for it.
What do you want to do with this gun? Might be some better calibers to do what you want.
I have AR's in .223, .300 Whisper, and 9mm. I am also doing a .22lr, .243, and thinking about a .45 one.
Mike he is talking about the round called a .458 Socom not the shortened M1A called the Socom. Big difference.

I was looking to build one I can hunt whitetail deer, as well as play with. I hunt in a lot of brush, 50 yards is about the max distance. I'm not sure the other cal. would work as well in brush. 0
