Hi-power and Beretta 92 same mag?
I was going through old boxes and found an old Beretta 92 mag (almost positive about it because it was with some other Beretta stuff from when I had one). I had already been playing with some newly bought Hi-power mags all day and noticed they were more than just very similar, they were identical. I then began looking at some of the mags I have been using in my Hi-power for years w/o malfunction and noticed that two of them are stamped ITALY CAL. 9mm NATO/LUGER. I put some 9mm snap-caps into the Beretta mag, put it into the Hi-power and viola...they cycled right through it!
Has anyone else ever heard of this?
If any of you have both pistols/mags check this out and give me a reassuring second opinion.
Thanks

There is one basic mag body used by several companies. Ruger P series, S&W 59, Beretta 92/M9, apparently Hi-power, and some others.
Not all interchange as the mag catch is not in the same place but the bodies are. By adding another mag catch I was able to use M9 mags in my Camp 9 that takes S&W 59 mags.0 -

I have the Marlin 9 also and stick with the S & W 59s, but I hear some folks have figured how to use Glock mags. Not sure what's involved though.0 -
The mag catch is in the exact same spot. I am really upset now because a few years ago I dumped about a 1/2 dozen M9 mags because I was positive I'd never own one again. Oh well, even this old dog can learn a new trick. 0 -

I did the Beretta since all I had to do was cut a new catch. I got a couple dozen for about $8/ea. I just got a second mag well and plan on trying to do a Glock conversion. Problem with the Glock mags is the mag catch is not in the right spot. I am not going to be cutting up my Glock mags.
There is a poster on another board that has a Glock version one that is going to send me pics of his. I will keep you updated when I get to work on it more.0 -

Thanks - I'm in CA and have to make do with the hi caps I already own.0 -
Hi Power and Beretta the same mag? Anyone else verify this? 0 -
Body look the same, BUT in my three HP'S and two Berettas, the mags won't work in each other. The HP mag catch is wider and a 1/2in higher. 0 -

Thanks for checking on this. I must have had a runaway mag turn up in the wrong place at the right time. 0
