870 Wingmaster 16ga Full VR
I ran in to a older 16ga 870 Wingmaster in a 16ga. This gun had a vent rib barrel with a full choke. It had the grooves, not the checkering in the forend. It had nice finish, I dont think it was reblued, it was shinny, not dull like some reblues I have seen. Anyway, do you guys think this is anything special and what would the value to someone who likes 16's be?
Thanks in advance guys!

Remington made two runs of 16ga 870's. The 16 was an included chambering beginning with the intoduction of the 870 in 1952 (?). Shooters are fickle and sometime in probably the late 60's or early 70's the 16 was dropped. A few were made in a second run a few years ago in both the higher grade and utility grade finishes. From your description sounds like you have a "corncob" forearm thus an earlier version. I have early 16ga with a plain modified choke. I really like my 16's. 0 -
because of the vent rib and its a 16, which has gained alot of popularity. if gun is in excellant shape, will bring close to 400 bucks. 0 -
Well, upon further inspection either the vent rib was added or had cam off and re-sodered. They didnt do a very good job on it, so I passed on the gun.
Thanks for all your help.0
